Shri Yogeshwari Shikshan Sanstha

Yogeshwari College, Ambajogai

A Brief Overview of the Institution

"Shri Yogeshwari Shikshan Sanstha" is a premier educational institution in Marathwada, possessing a glorious history deeply rooted in national and social service. The institution inherits a proud, sublime tradition of selfless, visionary individuals who have truly lived up to its guiding motto: 'Tena Tyaktena Bhunjitha' (Enjoy through renunciation).

Around a century ago, establishing any private, constructive educational initiative was condemned as treason under the oppressive Nizam regime. Defying these hostile conditions, motivated entirely by the ideals of community service and social awakening, the late Krishnaji alias Bhausaheb Chousalkar, late Vasudeorao Dasgaonkar, late Raghunathrao Nagapurkar, late Shridharpant Soman, and their associates boldly accepted the challenge and launched a private school named Shri Yogeshwari Nutan Primary School in 1918.

Subsequently, on May 5, 1935 (the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya), Revered Swami Ramanand Teerth, Revered Babasaheb Paranjape, Revered Narayanrao Joshi, late Tryambakrao Khursale, alongside other dedicated education enthusiasts of Ambajogai, formally established this institution. They expanded its horizons by introducing high school classes, effectively embedding lessons of absolute patriotism into mainstream academic learning.

The Genesis of Science Education

Following the historic Hyderabad Liberation War, the visionary sage Revered Swami Ramanand Teerth founded the Yogeshwari Science College on June 29, 1956. His primary objective was to throw open the locked gates of higher education for the economically backward sections of Marathwada and to cultivate a scientific temperament among deserving rural students. Ever since, it has been widely celebrated as the first rural science college in Marathwada. Emerging stronger through numerous hardships, this institution has transformed into a beacon of inspiration across the region.

Today, the Sanstha successfully manages two primary schools, a secondary school, a girls' high school, two senior colleges, and a polytechnic institute. Furthermore, a newly established Military School (Sainik Vidyalaya), recognized and approved by the Sainik Schools Society under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has commenced its academic operations this year.

Milestones & History

In 1961, the institution celebrated its Silver Jubilee under the esteemed presidency of the former Finance Minister of India and renowned economist, Late Dr. C.D. Deshmukh. This milestone was not a mere formal celebration but a profound realization of fulfillment gained through selfless public service.

With an exponential growth in student enrollment, the college was bifurcated in June 1970 into two distinct divisions: Yogeshwari College (Science Stream) and Swami Ramanand Teerth College (Arts and Commerce Stream). In November 1982, the Silver Jubilee of Yogeshwari College was commemorated in the presence of India's former Minister of External Affairs, Late Shri P.V. Narasimha Rao, and the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Late Babasaheb Bhosale. The institution's Golden Jubilee was celebrated during 2006-07, which initiated the construction of the state-of-the-art new college building. The year 2017-18 marked the historic Centenary Jubilee (100 Years) of the institution.

Our Core Philosophy & Responsibility

The core objective of the college extends far beyond manufacturing ordinary graduates; the vision is to ensure that young graduates step out into the world carrying the noble heritage of sacrifice required to serve society. We firmly believe that a college student is a future leader of the community. Therefore, it is our fundamental duty to instill structured discipline, strong social awareness, and a spirit of true national dedication within these young minds.

Students entering this institution from rural pockets of a socio-economically backward region like Marathwada often come from impoverished backgrounds with absolutely no family lineage of literacy. The management is fully conscious of its responsibility to create an ideal environment that fosters excellent character development despite these adverse conditions. To accomplish this, several community-centric initiatives have been dynamically implemented, such as the "Plant Trees, Save Trees" campaign, widespread Cleanliness Drives, the prestigious 'Shri Ganesh Lecture Series', collaborative employee festivals, and 'Women's Self-Awareness Training Camps'.
